The sister island
The Island is often seen as the little sister of Tahiti. It is part of the archipelago of society and the wind islands same as Tahiti. Its name means yellow lizard in Tahitian language. To get there, 30 minutes aboard the fast ferry Aremiti are necessary or 7 minutes on board Air Moorea. The island is the first pineapple producer of Polynesia, the fruit juice plant Rotui is also installed there. The breakthrough mountain or Mou'a Puta in Tahitian is one of the attractions of the island. The two beautiful bays of Opunohu and Cook can be observed from the Belvedere. It is the third most visited island after Tahiti and Bora Bora. The people of Tahiti spend often weekends or holidays on the sister island and enjoy the lagoon, beaches, calm and lush vegetation of this beautiful Island. The island also has a golf course of 18 holes designed by « Nicklaus Design ».
Points of Interest
Temae Beach, is one of most beautiful beaches there. It is a white sand beach jumping into a lagoon with turquoise color.
